Durian

Durian is a unique tropical fruit, mostly grown in Southeast Asian countries, such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Vietnam with its rich humid climate and enough warmth, is an ideal place for durian to grow. Durian is commonly grown in the Southeast, Central Highlands, and Mekong Delta regions. Durian is a fruit with a recognizable appearance distinguished by its large size, spiky,and hard outer shell. Inside, the fruit has got custard-like flesh with large seeds. Durian’s most famous attribute is its heavy pungent smell. Durian’s taste is described as a mixture of flavors such as almonds, garlic, cheese, and caramel. However, durian is still favored by the general public.

How to eat

In Southeast Asian cuisine, durian is often selected for processing into sweet or savory dishes. Both the flesh and seeds of the durian are edible, but the seeds need to be cooked before eating
